Assignment 5

1) When looking at my Midterm, I think that my most significant accomplishment was how I was able to scale image and retouch them to make them look like they belong on the background. The main tools I used to used to do this were the spot healing brush, the stamp clone tool, and the eraser tool.

2) The most challenging experience for me was being able make to images look like they are seamlessly apart of one image. A specific technique that was extremely difficult for me at the start of this quarter was the use of the clone stamp tool. Despite this fact, it is one of my staple tools now.

3) The two projects I am comparing are the first quiz, the magazine cover, and the Midterm Project. I chase these because they show the most difference in terms of skillful use of photoshop. As you can see, the images in the caver are anything but seamless and look like they are from another picture. However, my midterm looks almost opposite. My main goal for this project was to make it look like a realistic image, so I put great car into making the separate images belong to the background.

Blog Assignment 4

1) For my final project, I decided to revisit blog assignment 2, that is, creating an ice image. I am revisiting this for a couple reasons; one being that I really enjoyed it, but also because I wanted to elaborate on it. I feel like because it was a blog assignment, I could have done alot more with it but held back because it was a simple assignment. I want to convert it into a full on project. I want to really capture the whole ice theme, from the images to the background and even the small details. I also wanted to appy what interests me the most. So, I turned a car into ice and made it look like it is drifting on a frozen lake.

2) I am using the big idea of an ice environment. some inspirations for my project are lanscape photography(specifically ice landscapes), landscape painting, and action photography.

3) A photoshop technique that I will be using is turning an image into ice. (worth1000.com/iceparrot).

Blog Assignment 3

Leonardo Da Vinci (as an Inventor)

I chose Leonardo Da Vinci as my "Big Idea" artist, specifically for the idea of evolution, because he was the most inivative thinker of his time. His ideas were revolutionary and ahead of his time. In regards to his inventions, he wanted to evolve the way people lived. He wanted to make living life easier and more practical, whether it was for transportation or for more simple day to day tasks. He ispired everyone around him to "think outside the box" when it came to revolutionizing how people lived. He was a major conntributer to the evolution of humanity.

Chris Bangle

Chris Bangle is the design manager for BMW and is responsible for most of the modern designs of the company. His work appeals to me because of the subtlety of his designs. His designs are very eye pleasing and can turn heads, but also escapes the recent trends of big and gaudy designs of modern cars today. I will try to use his methods of a natural look in my midterm project by making the created image look natural and look like it "fits." I am also using him as an inspirational artists because my topic of the Big Idea is the evolution of speed.

blog assignment 2 (Ice Shark)

For the original image, I selected an image of a shark, selected it with the magnetic lasso tool, and moved it over the background of the iceburge.

In this step, I completely desaturated the shark and adjusted the color selection, specifically the neutral colors, and inversed the colors.

In this step, I incresed the cyan and blue levels to give the shark a blue, ice-like tint. After doing this, I took the eraser over it to make it look more transparent.

For the final step, all I did was move the shark's position, resulting in the finished image above.

Blog Assignment 1

Stone Pit
Stone Pit

Lonely Town
Lonely Town

Italy Town
Italy Town

Stone Pit:
- Denotations: an abandoned mine or quarry, looks like early 20th century, broken down, old everything is falling apart, you can see the broken bridge in the background, the stone architecture is in ruins and the is not verymuch left of it.
- Conotations: the artist may be trying to make a statement about how a once bustling work facility can turn into ruin once all of its recourses are exhausted and how poor and dangerous the site looks.

Lonely Town:
-Denotations: an old mideval looking allyway, probably the slums of a major city, a lone woman is walking down the allyway, cloths and rags are hanging out on cloths lines, ladders going across from roof to roof, some windows boarded up.
-Conotations: The allyway appears to be a poor part of the city because of the raggedy cloths hanging from window to window, the boarded up windows, and the ladders that extend from roof to roof. the boarded up windows could also indicate that it is not very populated and a place that people would try to stay away from. the lone woman walking appears to be carrying something (her hands are not at her sides), this could be a basket of food, a pile of dirty cloths that she is taking to be washed, or even a bucket that she is going to fill with water.

Italy Town:
Denotations: a mideval looking town (obviously Italian, revealed by the title), no people, a few wealthy looking buildings in the back, one building has a sign with a crest on it, a lone bare tree in the center, with stairs on both sides of it.
Conotations: the image appears to be a waelthier maketplace that leads up to a noblemans house. the streets are somewhat clean (for the time period), which is also an indication of a wealthier part of a city. the season could either be fall or early spring because of the bare tree in the center, the clear sky (Winter is generally cloudy all season long), and the birds flying in the sky (either returning from or flying to a place with warmer weather).
